What is Spintax? How to Use it in Cold Emails?

Rajnish

Spintax is a random combination of words and phrases to create a variety of the same email. Why is it important?

Well, SPAM Filters.

Spam filters don’t like cold emails, especially if they feel like mass emails. And you need to send mass emails to meet the deadlines and achieve the revenue goal.

This is where you need to know what is spintax and how to use spintax to get past the spam filters and book more meetings.

In this blog post, I will explain all of the above and also a trick—how to use variables within spintax to create a LOT more combinations.

What is Spintax in Cold Emails?

Spintax (short for "spinning syntax") is a technique used to automatically generate multiple variations of a message or text.

It is mainly used in cold emails.

It involves using specific syntax or "spin tags" to include alternative words, phrases, or sentences, allowing the system to create unique versions of the same email/message.

This helps avoid repetitive content, improve personalization, and avoid spam filters.

For example:

This will generate variations like:

Hello {{FIRST_NAME}}
Hi {{FIRST_NAME}}
Good morning {{FIRST_NAME}}

and

I hope you’re having a great day.
I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
I hope you’re having a productive day.

You can create different variations of the same emails using spintax. The point is to make your cold emails look like manually sent emails so that spam filters do not flag your emails as spam.

How to Use Spintax?

Log in to Manyreach or the cold email tool you’re using.

Go to Campaigns and find the Create Campaign button.

Now, go to the campaign editor/composer; for Manyreach users, go to Steps.

Click on Spin as pointed out in the image below.

You will find three ready options to choose from.

If you click on Opening, you will have

{|Hello|Hi|Good morning|} in the email body.

If you click on Closing, you will have

{|Thanks|Cheers|Regards|Greetings|Sincerely|Best wishes|Kind regards|Best|}

You can click on AB Test to try different variations of the email and find out which works best for your campaign.

Apart from this, you simply can use { and | to create play with different variations of the same sentence or phrase.

Example: {|great|wonderful|productive|}

How to Use Variables within Spintags?

Md. Riad Hussain from Rank Wizards said using variables within spintax helped them reduce spam rates, significantly. This is one of the tricks that helped them achieve 189% growth within a year

Let me how to use variables within spin tags to create different variations of a sentence.

What are Variables?

Variables are placeholders replaced by data from your contact list (e.g., a CSV file or CRM).

Example, {{COMPANY}}, {{FIRST_NAME}}, {{INDUSTRY}}, {{JOB_POSITION}}, etc.

The format of the exact syntax or variable might be different depending on the email tool you're using.

Some of the common formats are ({first_name}, [[first_name]], or %first_name%

Manyreach users use this format {{COMPANY}}.

Manyreach users can click on the Personalization button in the email body editor as shown below and they will find the long list of variables you can use.

Please use only the variables for which you added the information in the CSV file.

Insert Variables within Spintags

This method is used to create different variations of a single sentence.

For example:

{|What challenges do you face in {{job position}}?|What solutions have you discovered for overcoming obstacles in {{job position}}?|}

or

{|It was great to meet you at {{Location}}|I came across your profile while researching {{Industry}}|} and thought I’d reach out.

Another example:

{|Would love to learn about your goals for {{Year}}|How are you planning to tackle {{specific challenge}}?|}

Better Responses - Personalized emails catch attention and make people more likely to open and reply.

Test What Works - You can try different versions of your email to see which ones get the best results.

Saves Time - Spintags help you write lots of personalized emails quickly, instead of doing each one manually.

By making each email slightly different, spintags help your messages look unique and less like spam.
